Cooking up something for the north people, Res|Toe|Run finally opens its 53rd store at UP Town Center. They love puns, by the way.

Oakley: Make it your own

Aside from functionality, the power of engineering can produce instruments of massive style. One such instrument comes in the form of eyewear. But as the cherry on top, engineered eyewear is best when produced on your own taste and preference. With that being the case, then Oakley is just the brand for you because let’s be honest, everyone loves customized things.

Street style with Mossimo

All I could say is that I had the wonderful time to shoot Mossimo and I couldn't be happier. Dig this street style collection of theirs.

James Reid & Nadine Lustre for Parisian x Milanos

I’ve never seen James Reid or Nadine Lustre in person until a few days back. I wasn’t really a fan nor was I watching this celebrity couple conquer the showbiz scene—maybe a few Jollibee commercials from time to time—but it might be the latest collection of Parisian and Milanos that sparked the JaDine in me. No shame there, really.

Outdoor x Pac-Man

I may be a kid born in the 90s but regardless of era, I’m all up for video games. As if it was just like yesterday, a retro game of the 80s came swooping down to tickle my gaming delight. Outdoor Products collaborated with the legendary game, Pac-Man, to craft backpacks that speak to an old school gamer’s soul. Like they all say, nothing beats the classics.

Mossimo: End of Season Sale

It wasn’t until a few days back that I got the chance to absorb Mossimo at the back of my mind. Maybe because I saw my father wear their Khaki jeans with confidence. Daddy apparel was what I first perceived the brand to be. A few purchases and a 70% off sale later, I quickly changed my mind.

A Gentleman's Game with General

As much as I would like to imagine my country to be a winter wonderland this Holiday season, layering even at tolerable degrees can still be a death wish. But then I thought: yeah whatever, let’s still layer for the occasion. With the Christmas rush knocking on our doorsteps, I’ve decided to welcome my continuous adulthood stage by layering with a gentleman’s ensemble at General

Boardwalk Silversaya

Last October, I was invited to attend the prestigious celebration of a particular brand. As a company that has been active in showcasing fashion and lifestyle across the Philippines, Boardwalk has a lot of positive pride. After all, 25 years is enough to award the brand with an amazing “silver platter”. Celebrate with Boardwalk Silversaya!

Burger King Chicken Fries

Being a chick magnet is cute and all, but only if you’re pieces of edible sticks that constitute what it means to be ingenious and delicious. If you haven’t noticed anything new about Burger King, then let me lay it on you. They have combined chicken and fries and decided to put it in a very cute package. It’s very much addictive— in a positive way. Introducing Burger King’s Chicken Fries!

Style with Boardwalk

Another milestone on my blog post, but I had the opportunity to try out the fashion style of Boardwalk. A first time yet again, as I have never worn a full set of a certain brand. Did I like the look? Oh, very much so.

Vivere Salon

Now if you’re wondering how I maintain my extremely curly hair, it’s that I don’t. Ranging from a lion’s mane to something out of a low-budget horror movie, my hair has always been subject to wonder and criticism. So after the usual wash-and-dry, I managed to break from the routine to take my hair someplace where it can be “tamed”: at Vivere Salon.

Flotsam and Jetsam

As a busy city kid, I never had the chance to travel the wonders of the Philippines. Aside from the streak of concretes the local capital had to offer, I only had the luxury to look at worn-out bridges that offered a swell view of the “dirty”rivers of Manila—a sight to behold, undoubtedly. But in the beach sense, all these circumstances were washed away by the relaxing vibe of San Juan, La Union. And not just any chill vibe, we’re talking about Flotsam and Jetsam.

Wingstop Flavor Invasion

Now, I wouldn’t be saying this like a cruel joke, but like this long overdue post, there’s a long list of flavors lined up for every chicken wing lover out there. I’ve witnessed a spree of chicken wings over the course of my indulgences. But the variations at Wingstop have always been a flavor party—or a flavor invasion, if I were to be more specific.

Outdoor

Now, if I didn’t think it would be scorching hot at the localities of Pampanga, I wouldn’t be layering for the occasion. I even had the thought that white clothes would block off even a hint of mean sun rays—which were really mean. With the struggle to stunt my aesthetics, looking at the mirror can definitely save the day. White denim looks seriously good, by the way.

TLC Foodsteps: A Gastronomic Journey

If there is anything that makes me want to attend a 7am call time, it would be because of food. Kidding aside, a few weeks back, I had the time of my life as I trailed the culinary wonders of the local scene to try out the best delicacies Pampanga has to offer. So I packed my bags and began my best food experience to date. Welcome to TLC Foodsteps!

Blissful at B Hotel Alabang

There’s a blissful haven down south where one can find comfort and solitude, far-off from the busy and stressful jungle that is Manila. B Hotel Alabang pays homage to anyone looking to have a luxurious yet affordable staycation. It’s definitely far away from my usual spots, but it doesn’t stray from saying a very warm, “welcome home”.

The Craft Central

Arts and crafts have always been a favorite of all-around tinkers. There is much pleasure when you go about novelty and curiosity stores finding the perfect arsenal for your artistic endeavors. Because like any local crafter, there is much magic when neat things thread your hands. So if ever you’re into these things like me, then why not head to The Craft Central.

Landers Superstore

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic | Landers Superstore

Guilty as charged but I’ve always loved grocery shopping. There is much splendor and marvel when I see those big quantity of items displayed on every corner. Whatever I need, the aisles offer. That’s why when Landers Superstore opened, I had this drive to experience the enormous wonders it offered. It’s a store that’s super, after all.

Timbuk2

There’s always that excitement when we talk about customized and ready-made items; especially when these things will land on our hands. And what brand can we rely on to get these personalized goodies than Timbuk2. Because for a bag that’s well woven and tediously hilted, it’s definitely made for one’s personal touch.

A Century of Philippine Art

Time has once again extracted pieces of the past to bring back to the present. It’s as if an old familiar book was found, the dusted pages decided to begin not on the 1st page, but at the end. There is so much to feel about the: “A Century of Philippine Art” exhibit. But even with its delicacy and finesse, it’s still definitely worth seeing.

Cityscapes with JanSport

Let’s be honest, the JanSport backpack is not hard to miss. This piece of all-around functionality has avidly been “shouldered” by people looking for fun and discovery. From jeepney rides to mall walks, I’ve always spotted this bag with its signature logo. But I guess I’ll be seeing it more around Cityscapes.

BLK 513

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic | BLK 513

Black is the absence of color, so they say. But for others, black can also mean the absence of guilt and the absence of unhealthy fat. So for a cream-based treat, BLK 513's black and brooding yogurt is definitely a mystery waiting to be indulged.

Chinatown

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic | Chinatown

Riddled with businesses that run on cheap transactions, the oriental streets have definitely changed since I visited 7 years ago. In honor (sacred or not) of this refreshing meeting, I decided to walk the streets of Chinatown with a bucket hat; Far from looking like your typical China boy-- but what the hell, right?

Bánh Năm

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic | Bánh Năm

On a personal note, there is no “best thing” since sliced bread. Not when sliced bread is passionately toasted and crafted to a hearty sandwich. But before the search for the next best thing, Vietnam delicacy really surprised me not in the form of rice dishes, but in sandwiches. Oh, and by the way-- Xin Chào!

As if the era of Asian expeditions began anew, I set off from the comfort of the North (nothing new there) to discover unfamiliar lands a.k.a. SM Southmall, Alabang. This brave effort was necessary to score one of the most authentic Vietnam sandwiches in the local scene. Like a true Spanish conquistador, Bánh Năm was a discovery worth recording.

Bánh Năm celebrated its store opening at SM Southmall to cater authentic Vietnamese sandwiches to the Filipino taste bud. To put it here bluntly, I’ve never been well-versed in Vietnamese cuisine so a Bánh Năm experience was in order. But before I got my hands on the cultural delicacies, store opening rituals opened the event.

To tickle your minds, I’m giving a short trivia about the store: Bánh Năm came from two words, “Bánh mì”, which refers to the Vietnamese sandwich made of baguette, pickled daikon, carrots, cilantro, pate mayonnaise, and assorted meat. The “Nam” which means five, refers to the 5 flavors of Vietnam.

People began to circle the store, as their curious eyes wondered on Bánh Năm. I noticed that the store did well to exude a Vietnamese vibe. It's as if a quiet traditional celebration was taking part-- hungry people waiting to feast on a foreign delicacy, authentic Vietnamese chefs showcasing delicate culinary art, wooden designs that shadow a cultural scene, all in the humble space of a curious Vietnamese store

Before long, a line appeared in front of the store so I didn't waste any more time (maybe because I was already hungry, lol).

Birdhouse

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic | Birdhouse

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s…well, it’s really a bird. You can’t find Superman and his bravado at the Uptown Mall, but you do get to taste fried bird, erm—chicken! Bluntly speaking, that’s kind of the same thing. So I journeyed once again to the south streets to have a taste of the clucking wonders of Birdhouse.

HORIZON

As staple as it may sound, time really does fly. To be honest, things have been crazy after graduation. I've been wading in the pool of the workforce for almost a year now. And every once in a while, the feeling of being completely lost comes to mind as I try to make sense of everything. In these instances, I take a deep breath and look at things beyond the horizon

AsiaPOP Comicon Manila

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic

I always believed that being a geek is a compliment. There’s nothing really wrong with indulging in video games, books, and lore of the fictional universe. I’d like to believe that because of these things, imagination and creativity truly soars beyond the horizon. I witnessed this firsthand when I saw the "otherwordly" community at AsiaPOP Comicon Manila.

BRASILIPINAS 2016

I've always been curious about the wonders of Brazil. For me, there's something amazing about their energetic culture and how they position themselves as one of the best countries when it comes to festivals. Luckily, you don't have to travel halfway across the world to experience it. Rockwell's Sunset Street Party, Brasilipinas 2016, is a festival that will surely ignite your Brazillian vibe.

ERRANDS

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been doing errands since an early age. From the simple task of buying suka from our local sari-sari store to sorting out bills to be paid, my errands have always been there to guide me in the world of adulthood.

EAT LIKE A VAGABOND

I’ve never been a hardcore wanderer but if I did become one, food exploring in different countries would be at the top of my priority list. I think being a food vagabond would definitely be a life goal because to put it simply—food is life. Amazingly, I had the chance to try out dishes from around the world with a restaurant that carries the persona of a true vagabond.

COFFEE DATE

Sharing a not-so-secret trivia but my relationship with Arnie really started when I asked her out on a coffee date. We’ve been doing it ever since. Coffee dates are fun and intimate― the mindshare of two individuals exchanging thoughts and sipping caffeine is always wonderful.

MAS DOWN SOUTH

Bonifacio High Street is definitely a cool place to have a stroll and maybe take a couple (okay, maybe a lot) of pictures. But aside from the amazing street art, office blocks, and other hippy commercial complexes, it’s the fashions shows by Style Origins that definitely fire the place up.

TRAINING WITH THREE STRIPES

Deo Montuerto | Afrotastic

Going consistently at the gym is a mental challenge on its own. Laziness can always kick in and the array of excuses line-up aggresively. But aside from the thought of slacking off, it’s the physical challenge of training everyday that can make or break any gym-goer. That’s why you need performance apparel to give you that extra push.

COOL FOLKS

What would a lifestyle blog be without denim wear, right? Well, not really. But I've been itching to go for a feel good denim combination.

Back at it again with my street wears!

PARES AT RETIRO

There is a famous place at the corner of N.S. Amoranto (famously known as Retiro) and Dr. Alejos Sts. where the red and white walls are shabbily faded and the bright orange bowls are readily exposed for individuals near and far. It’s not the most glamorous of places to eat at—far from it, to be honest—but the thought of heritage wins every time.
