Commute Vibe

For as long as I can remember, commuting has always been part of my life. From public buses that mimic rollercoasters to UVs that have saunas for air conditioners, you name it! Luckily, when one is a frequent commuter, handy skills are learned along the way-- one of which is efficiently dressing in style.

Did you know you can still pull off an excellent ensemble even if you’re commuting? My piece for today was inspired by the many times that I got haggard from bus, fx, and mrt rides-- lol.

Fine, I admit, here in the Philippines, commuting is nasty business. Aside from the intense heat and random rainfalls, you have to battle your way during rush hours and seemingly endless traffic. I’ve had more than my share of commuting blues— my subtly unfortunate travel routine involves sprinting against a “zombie tsunami” of angry commuters competing towards an incoming UV express or riding an extremely jam-packed bus that doesn’t seem to do justice in comfort.

Because of commuting blues, styling up for the day can be hard and frustrating. But with the right planning, you can still look impeccably stylish. I went for a comfy laid back style that can accommodate being stylish and anti-haggard.

Whenever you’re commuting, you have to always consider the random weather changes. You can still go for a layered look but just make sure that the fabric is not too thick. Luckily enough, I brought a jacket when I attended an event because it rained hard. It actually goes well with my white shirt because of the clean contrast—also! White shirts are heat friendly; it’s one of the most comfortable pieces one can pull-off. Good ol’ plain and simple.

Bringing along a functional backpack can do you wonders while commuting. You can go for rucksacks because they're both stylish and spacious.

Always a fan of Stussy! I always browse through their collections.

I usually consider bringing a cap whenever I commute because it can somehow shade you from the intense heat of the sun. It also looks good with the right ensemble.

When commuting, you can never go wrong with black shoes. Be it rain or people stepping on your shoes (which is a real bummer at times), black shoes can camouflage any kind of stain that may come against your footwear.

It’s always a winning moment when I can comfortably ride jeepneys with ootds like this. More to come soon!
