Cocoro Sugar: A healthy solution for Diabetics

In collaboration with Little Owl, Cocoro Sugar is an honest to goodness solution to all your health conscious needs.

If your family like mine, has a series of problems when it comes to diabetes, finding solutions on what to eat is a must. Given the circumstance, people diagnosed with diabetes become picky food eaters: they watch what they eat, they say no to beans and other dishes high on uric acid. Unfortunately, here in the Philippines, sugar is an ingredient that's "necessary"-- who doesn't eat white rice here, right?

Like an unexpected creature of the night, Little Owl comes swooping in, along with Cocoro sugar to answer the diabetes problem. For the healthy sugar's launch, they invited bloggers like myself to try out their collaboration with the humble restaurant. Basically, their dishes were infused with coconut sugar and the result is a guilt-free indulgence that won't leave you heavy on the bad stuff.

Cocoro Ivory is the light colored variant of Cocoro Sugar that can be used as substitute for white sugar. It’s perfect for cooking, baking, or even as making fruit juices. Cocoro Dark Caramel is an alternative for brown sugar. It’s good for your coffee, tea, or when cooking your favorite dishes!

Since coconut sugar is an easy substitute in dishes that have sugar, Cocoro Sugar is working together with the Little Owl Café (located in 65 Broadway Avenue New Manila, Q.C.) to create healthy dishes that are on request for diners. During the launch, we got to try out a couple of their dishes (which were all infused with Cocoro Sugar). I got to break it to you guys, but the dishes were far from subpar. Definitely a must-try!

 Chicken Tocino

  Roasted Beet Salad
 Mixture of lollo rosso, romaine, arugula, blue cheese, walnuts and freshly roasted beets drizzled with balsamic dressing made with Cocoro Ivory

Pecan Pie
 Made with layers of apple slices and crunchy pecans on top cooked with Cocoro Dark Caramel

Other pastries were also present in the event, which I hoarded, ha! But really, I never ate pastries as guilt-free as these. They're also incredibly good; It's something you can eat the whole day.

Also present in the event was the products of Il Fiore. They use Cocoro Sugar for their gelato offers, too!

 So why use Cocoro Sugar?

Cocoro Sugar helps maintain blood sugar level because it has a low glycemic index with the presence of insulin. It also blocks the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream and prevents sugar high or crash. Quite simply, Cocoro Sugar is a something you can eat everyday without any long-term consequences.
