A Taste of Vietnam

I somewhat experienced the culinary heritage of the Land of the Dragon People and it’s all thanks to Crimson Hotel’s Café 8.

Even with an impossibly difficult schedule, Arnie and I managed to squeeze some time to head to Alabang for another gastronomic experience. Back then, food events was a no-brainer option for us both since we always “order extra rice on the side”. However, due to dabbling in food businesses, we take things more seriously moving forward.

There’s that excitement to experience the design, the texture, cooking method, and of course flavor of any dish we encounter nowadays.  It’s something we picked up when we ourselves were doing some R & D in our own establishment. With this in thought, having to try out legitimate Vietnamese dishes is very fun in terms of blogging (admittedly, it’s also because we’re foodies) and in terms of expanding our knowledge in the culinary scene.

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen! After weeks of no blog post, I give to you my take on Café 8’s gastronomic experience!

Crimson Hotel was generous enough to fly three guest chefs to showcase Vietnamese dishes here in the Philippines. As amazing as it already is, the dishes were all unique to the core. Each dish like the Fresh Spring Rolls or the Vietnamese Pho  have something distinctive in terms of plating and flavor. I really liked how the play of ingredients complemented one’s palate needs. Take for instance the Vit Kho Gung (Stewed duck in ginger), one could tell that the duck’s flavor profile blended well with the ginger and other vegetables found in the dish.

Through chefs Nguyen Thi Khanh Ngan, Tran Kim Hoang Trong, and Vo Van Chien, they took Vietnamese dishes to the next level here at our local scene.  If splurging money is part of your weekend, then better head to Crimson Hotel Filinvest City to experience a diverse and powerful culinary experience. Better hurry though, they’re staying until Saturday only!

Enjoy lunch buffet at Php 1,235++ or dinner at Php 1,410++, inclusive of free flowing beverages such as wine, beer, juice, and sodas.
